This page shows the basic details for a content area definition as well as any templates where it is used. Content area definitions act as a template for content areas that are displayed on dashboards and reports. They define the settings for the content area, the source and presentation of the data as well as the security model.
This page can be accessed from the Content Area Definition Dashboard by clicking on the ID to the left of a content area definition or the drill-down arrow to the right of the record.
The CAD details section contains the basic attributes of a content area definition. The 'Is Template' attribute defines whether the content area definition is part of the content area library, in which case users can use it as the basis for adding their own content areas to a dashboard.
The basic attributes of a content area definition cannot be changed here. To change them, navigate to a template where it is in use by clicking on the 'View Template' button of a template listed in the 'CAD Usage' section. This will bring up the Dashboard Template Detail page from which the template can be edited if the user has edit rights. Once the dashboard is in edit mode, the user can edit the content area definition provided they have edit rights to that definition.
Refer to Content Area Definitions for further details of how to edit content area definitions.
The CAD Usage section shows where the content area definition is used. These are templates containing content areas using this definition.
Click on 'Vew Template' to display the Dashboard Template Detail page. If the user has edit rights to the template, there will be an option to edit the template and the underlying content area definitions if the user also has edit rights on the content area definition.
This content area definition can be copied if required. Click on the 'Copy CAD' icon to the top right of the page.
